No More Excuses—It’s Time to Show Up for Myself

Have you ever caught yourself listing out every reason why you can’t do something? “I’m too tired.” “I don’t have time.” “I have too much on my plate.” “I’ll start next week.” “My kids have this going on this week”, so by the time you’re home, kids and everyone else are taken care of, you finally sit down and are too tired to think about you, that book is shut. Yeah, me too. I’ve been there more times than I can count. And lately, if I’m being real, I’ve been living in that space—making every excuse in the book for why I couldn’t show up for myself.

But after taking some time to reflect, I realized something hard to admit: I was in my own way. No one else. Just me. I let the demands of life pull me in so many directions that I forgot the most important thing—me.

I used to pride myself on my health. I would check every label, be intentional about what I consumed, and move my body regularly. I believed in living a holistic and full life. I was an avid rookie rock climber—scaling walls was more than just a hobby, it was THERAPY. It was my release, my strength, my grounding. Rock climbing gave me clarity when my mind felt chaotic. Trail hiking and running were also part of my rhythm, helping me stay centered both physically and mentally. It’s painful to admit, but I know I’m not alone in this. So, I’m writing this not just as a wake-up call to myself—but maybe to you, too.
